If Jon Carroll's quiz is too tough this year, have fun identifying the films in this, the best "clips from a hundred movies" collage I've ever seen. It's a bit over 9 minutes long, so that's an average of about 5 1/2 seconds per film. Ready?

What I found most pleasurable about watching this, besides the hypnotizing conceit on which it was assembled, was how many of the films I did recognize, and with pleasure. I've seen exactly half of these - a huge hit rate for me as film citations go - and in each case the clip was enough to pin it: mostly through remembering the scene, sometimes through the clue of who was on screen and what they were saying. Only a couple of them I didn't much like, and a full half-dozen are among my all-time favorite movies. And it was often easy enough, too, to recognize the actor in films I hadn't seen. How'd you do?

LOL! That's fun!

I knew/recognized 71! Yay me! Of course, of that 71, there were several that I've never actually seen all the way through -- but I know the actors, recognize the contexts, etc.

And I really laughed at the choice for the final one. Hee.

Maybe 20 for sure, another 5 on the tip of my tongue.

I've seen somewhere around 66 of them. With a bit more time and a bit more context, I probably could have named a lot more of the one's I've seen.

When I saw the clip from "This Is Spinal Tap" I didn't even have to hear the dialog!

Amusing, though I think I'd only lay claim to about 25.

This was a lot fun, albeit a bit frustrating because, upon reviewing the answers, I discovered that several of the clips that I did not recognize were from films that I have in fact seen. There were probably at least 15 in that category. Then there were clips where I knew the film but couldn't quite remember its name off the top of my head. For example, I knew the scene with the young Paul Newman and George C. Scott was from the pool shark film with Jackie Gleason but I temporarily blanked on the name. Anyhow, I got somewhere between 40 and 50, but I've seen closer to 60 of these films.

Interesting to note how many of those movies starred Paul Newman, Humphrey Bogart or Jimmy Stewart.
