calimacQuiet, cool backyard party. Even the grill was calm this year and didn't flash-fry anything you put on it.
Some folks were climbing a tree. When I mentioned I had never done this, I was told, "Now's your chance." Assured this was a very easy tree to climb. Did not find it so. (Have never been able to figure out how to climb a tree, which is why I'd never done it. Watching others do it first emphatically does not help.) Eventually resorted to grabbing a strong-looking overhead branch and then planting my feet a few inches up the trunk for a couple seconds. Was assured that my feet were off the ground, so it counts. Thought it differed little from jumping up in place, but whatever.
Lots of quiet conversation about books. Realized I hadn't submitted my final votes for the Mythopoeic Scholarship Award, but since I read all the nominees back in the first-ballot process, I guess I'm ready, so when we came home I did that.
