Monsters vs. Aliens
What's good about it: The character of Susan, an ordinary young woman who must face the challenge of having suddenly become: 1) a giant; 2) a monster; 3) a superhero.
What's bad about it: Everything else.

Julie & Julia
Loved Julia, hated Julie. And her husband. And her cat. And her cooking. From the moment, in her boring office job at the start, that she tells a caller not to yell who's not yelling, she's a giant snip. Later she turns out to be a creepy fangirl too.
Best moment: Near the end when she discovers that Julia hates her. Mrs. Child always had good taste.

The Rape of Europa
So the Nazis were mass murderers? Big deal. This documentary would have you know being the world's biggest art thieves was even worse. Why, it took the U.S. Army years afterwards to figure out who really owned all this stuff.
Yeah, all that theft and loss and destruction was a crime. But in context, the word for this film is "bathetic."

I can think of a lot of ways to describe having to deal with the traumas of victims of the collapse of the World Trade Center, but boring is not among them. Nor is it how its presented in the film. But if that's the level of empathy and observation you brought to the character, it's no wonder you didn't like her.

"Boring" was intended as her experience of her job. That is how it's presented as seeming to her, and it's the attitude she brings to her work and her interactions. "Empathy" and "observation" are precise descriptions of what she lacks.

And here's a review of the actress's next movie in which she is described in this one as "saddled with the role of a whiny cooking blogger." No, she's definitely not a universally likable character, and she whines at work as well as while cooking.
