valentines
Feb. 14th, 2009 08:36 amLast night for our now-traditional off-Valentines dinner out, B. and I went to a Thai restaurant close to the Potlatch hotel. I've had lunch there several times, but I wanted to try one of the fish dishes that are only on the dinner menu. I'd almost forgotten that Thai food can be light, delicate, and emphasizing the mixture of the flavors to an extent that the only way to taste the food properly is to get a little bit of each ingredient on your fork at once.
Then off to Country Gourmet, an old favorite, to indulge in dessert. I ordered a chocolate chip cookie in the Cookie Monster voice, a staple of mine since childhood when I entertained little brothers with it.
Tonight, when all the rest of the romantic world is out gallivanting - and worse than usual because it's also a Saturday - we'll be snug at home where I'll cook dinner and we shall eat it. Much more romantic, less crowded and less expensive. And with cats.
