Some of you will hate this, I'm sure. It owes a lot to minimalism.

But I think this piece of music - Partita for 8 Voices by Caroline Adelaide Shaw - which just won the Pulitzer Prize for Music - is, as the man said, really amazing.

Fascinating. I liked Fly Away 1 better, but I'm not fond of spoken word in choral pieces in general. It throws me out of the music.

Thanks for the link! I will listen to more of her stuff.

Bandcamp has the entire Roomful of Teeth album, which includes the 4 movements of the Partita in a dismembered order (?), for free streaming. I was interested enough to order the CD, but I haven't really dug into it yet. (Roomful of Teeth is the name of the acapella group of which Caroline Shaw is a member.)

I can't remember the last time I gave a hoot about the Pulitzer Prize for Music. Local composer William Bolcom has one, but I've never heard the work which won the prize.
