uh oh, worldcon writes again

I voted for the Hugos. Now the Worldcon writes to remind me that I have one day left to vote for site selection if I want to. (There's on-site voting also, but I'm not going so that's irrelevant.) That's if I want to get a $40 supporting membership in whoever wins.
Do I want to? And who should I vote for, D.C. or Helsinki? (The other two are not on, in my opinion.)

Date: 2015-08-09 07:06 pm (UTC)Helsinki is by far the most exciting bid. It would bring the Worldcon to a region it has never been before. The bid has already done a lot to build bonds between Finnish fandom and American fandom. The convention will do even more. Also, Helsinki has been bidding longer. They've really worked for this
D.C. would be perfectly acceptable.
I'm friends with the Japan bid and I think it is a credible bid and another Japanese worldcon would be a wonderful experience if it wins. Japanese fans are fantastic and it is definitely worth the effort to reach out and get to know them. Also, the Montreal bidders are making a good effort, and I love Montreal. It's a good thing we have preferential voting.
