At 3:30 on Sunday afternoon a cop was doing traffic-calming on I-880 southbound in Oakland. A few minutes later I passed a dark SUV in the right-hand lane, driving slowly with its emergency blinkers on, trailed by two police cars with flashing lights on.

What was going on here? Was O.J. Simpson hiding in the back seat?

Maybe a woman in labor, being driven slowly so as not to jolt her, and the cruisers to ensure that they didn't get rear-ended?

I'm not sure what hospital they'd have been going towards in that direction.
