My father used to profess, whenever he saw a sign reading "Not A Through Street", that the name of the street was "Notathrough".

Clearly, this was developed by someone with a similar sense of humor:

I remember when I realized that signs that said "NO THRU TRUCKS" were pointing out streets that I hadn't always known went all the way through. A useful tool for one always looking for different routes.

A road I used to drive on occasionally when I was a teenager was named Godown Road. I always pronounced it God Own Road, which I thought was a) funny, and b) correct, until someone kindly pointed out that it should be pronounced Go Down Road.
