Looking at the street where I live, I would not have thought it overdue for re-paving. But the city evidently thought differently, so it was blocked off today to apply what's called a chip seal. Even those of us inside the private complex had to leave our cars outside on neighboring streets - assuming we wanted to take them anywhere today, that is.
And now we receive a notice that the complex association wants to do the same thing to the paved street inside the complex next month. This will be interesting. Currently it's possible to walk along the sidewalks of the public street to neighboring streets without having to wade across a sea of sticky tar, but I don't see how that'll be possible when the tar is directly in front of our houses: there are no sidewalks inside the complex.
Well, these are the mundane everyday concerns of home. Had we been spending a strategically planned month in Australia, like many of our friends, we wouldn't have to worry about it.
