Tomorrow, Thursday, is solstice. That means it's time for The Garden of Memory walk-through concert in the Oakland mausoleum. I went to this last year and had a wonderful time; it earned my finest word of acclamation, "weird."

Amy X. Neuburg and Paul Dresher, who so impressed me last year, will both be back. Joan Jeanrenaud of ex-Kronos fame. Victoria Jordanova, whose still-point memorials would be perfect for this venue. Maggi Payne. Henry Kaiser and Chris Muir.

Anybody else going? [livejournal.com profile] n6tqs, you originally told me about this. [livejournal.com profile] liveavatar, this would be your sort of thing. A lot of the rest of you, too. Come on.

In other news, a casual remark dropped elsewhere caused me to realize that the last concert this Sunday of the SF Symphony Prokofiev Festival, for which I have a ticket, will be going on at the same time as this literally across the street.

I am a decided supporter of gay rights, and I wish well to those who desire to celebrate those rights in public. What I have a personal aversion to is parades. And really huge parties. Whatever the reason for it, when people wish to gather together in the literally tens or hundreds of thousands, I have a strong desire not to be one of them. Parking & crowds are bad enough at symphony concerts. I stay out of the City on Bay to Breakers day; in college I always went away for the weekend when the Big Game was there; up till now I've never been near this either. I shall take public transit and then walk in from the other direction, and hope I can get in and out again without getting squished. If I see you across the street, I'll wave.
