To an extent I agree with Viertel. On the other hand, the shows Viertel lauds were the select few over several decades. I don't think the 2000's produced very many wonderful shows that will live in our memories, but that isn't to say the art form is dead, perhaps just resting a bit while we find new composers who tap into both good musical form and people's conciousness.

P.S. I have two close friends who adore the music in Hamilton.
