Douglas Gresham, C.S. Lewis's step-son, answers questions about Narnia:

"I don't know the answer to that one ... Somebody made a mistake. I don't know who ... I do not know ... Nobody knows ... Nobody knows ... Nobody knows ... We are not told ... Nobody knows ... Either or neither ... We are not told ... Yes and no ... Ask the publishers not me."

UPDATE: It seems necessary, from the comments received, to clarify what I meant to convey: that this was just about the most pointless interview ever published. Criticism is not of Gresham for not knowing what he doesn't know, but of those who thought that as the Blessed Stepson he would have all the answers in his pocketses.

I think you're a little unfair to Gresham here. Jack Lewis didn't leave behind the mounds of alternative and reworked texts that Tolkien did; and a lot is simply not known, even if Lewis had settled on it in his own mind as opposed to merely tossing it in for effect.

Agree with Mike. Granted that Gresham has kind of appointed himself Keeper of the Flame of Saint Jack (rather in the Hooper mold, really), nonetheless better he should admit ignorance than make something up. Really, I blame the interviewer -- those are questions that should be asked of Lewis or nobody.

There's always that wistful nerdish hope that somebody will know; and Gresham did know the answers to several of the questions in the interview.

Maybe he wants to be a White House Press Secretary?

(NB: I've read the previous comments.)
