welcome to Alexandra Rose

While I was out lunching on Chinese noodle soup - the heroic excursions I make for the sake of the Potlatch restaurant guide - I became, unbeknownst to myself until hours later, once again a great-uncle or a grand-uncle or whatever it is that I am. 9 lbs, 6 oz, 20.5 inches, first grandchild to the last of B's brothers to achieve that status. I expect to meet the kid at Christmas!

In my family we called my grandmother's sister my great-aunt. I suppose "great-uncle" is the equivalent.

Properly so speaking you are a grand uncle, although when my tribe of nephews and nieces both blood and foster finally produce sproglets, I'll be a great aunt. Why the difference is more than I know.

Congratulations! :o)
