Except for flying in, my brother won't be in London, so I didn't go into that. His plan is to drive around northern Scotland (thus my detail on where in that country I've been) and take photos of rural road signs, which is his passion. He's a talented photographer, and why he expends himself on such subjects has always mystified me.
In a part of my e-mail that I didn't include, I extolled the virtues of inter-city (trunk) rail service in Britain, and advised him to take the train to Edinburgh or Glasgow and rent a car there, rather than driving up. I left that part out because I knew my British readers would have a fit reading any praise of their train service, but if you came to the US and took the passenger trains here, you'd know why I said it.
