Doubtless it shows me up as an unsophisticated listener, but I quite like the Festive Overture, which to my untrained ears seems cousin to Bernstein's similarly playful overture to Candide. That said, I must note that my favorite rendition of the Shostakovich piece includes the musicians changing pants in the middle of the performance.
