I too first knew GRRM as an author of delicate, emotionally sensitive SF stories which I liked a great deal, and while I also admire the power (and express dismay at the crudeness) of his undeservedly unsuccessful (semi)modern-setting fantasy novels of the early 80s, I remain slightly bewildered at the author he's turned into since then.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I enjoy the thrill of the hunt so long as it actually puts the food on the table by dinnertime. If I can't find an OP book I want after a while, or if I need it sooner, I'll just look it up and order it.
