I may have a selection by him on a Norton LP. Years ago, my sister and I found this multi-record set when we were looking for a present for Dad, and said, "This has a whole bunch of stuff on it! It's a perfect present!" We didn't understand his reaction: he was clearly trying to look glad to get it. Anyway, I have it now. It's movements from things, mostly.
I may be related to the composer. According to Babbit genealogy (that's my mom's side), all Babbits (including spelling variants) are descended from a Bobit who came here in the 17th century — except for a small number that told an immigration agent their long, difficult names and were promptly redubbed Babbit.
I have various anthology collections of that kind. As a result, I have Webern in my collection, I have Stockhausen, I have Luening and Wuorinen and cats like that. But I don't have any Babbitt.
Did you ever decide to not buy an otherwise (mildly or distinctly) attractive anthology collection because of the presence of a Babbitt composition on it? We are of course seeking to determine the precise degree of your Babbitt aversion. :-)
