Nobody should be dehumanised that way, no matter what they've done or who they are. No people with disabilities should be neglected in the way that we were. Nobody should disappear in custody the way I did. But these things happened.
It's about a Kafkaesque bureaucracy that uses any excuse it can to treat people cruelly. Lacking the appropriate country-specific paperwork for your relationship is just one excuse. The real underlying problem is economic insecurity, channeled into xenophobic hysteria by, quelle surprise, the same special interests who caused the economic problems in the first place.
