Hiding out today, so as not to have to deal with any of the artificial hoopla of the day. And to think that, while food shopping a couple days ago, I actually wondered why the meat counter was full of corned beef and brisket. Sigh.

A mere week after we received an official envelope containing nothing but a notice that the census form is coming!, the census form came. Rather than waiting until the official date of 1 April and risking burying the form under kipple, I just filled it out. This is the third decade I've been with my B., which pleases me immensely, but at no two censi in my entire life have I been at the same address. I don't consider myself a footloose person: it just worked out that way.

Census is fourth declension, not second, so the Latin plural is "census". (Yes, I had to Google that up, but I did remember from Latin class 43 years ago that one had to be careful around abstract nouns ending in -us.)

Well, I belong to a subculture that believes that the plural of "fan" is "fen", so as long as John Cleese isn't at my throat ...

Where as we've been living in this house since 1978, so this will make the 4th time we've used the same address. Terribly boring I'm afraid.
And Moose turns 21 today, so it's his 3rd time on the lists!
Yeah, I'll be doing it Real Soon Now, too. Otherwise it will get buried in the office.

Sent our form out today. As for the rest of the day, I'm not Irish, so I'm not celebrating. Find a Portuguese holiday, and we'll talk party then.

I made one minor concession by wearing a peridot and amethyst necklace (for the rude people who insist on seeing what green you have) and those are whump's and my birthstones.

Well, I bought some Irish cheese yesterday because it was on sale, and while that brand isn't great, it's edible, and I didn't want to make a second stop for better cheese. Erin Go Bragh!

I've also never been at the same address from one census to the next. We had our house in Paris for 11 years, and have been in Lexington for 15, but as we bought each mid-decade, there you go.

I do like Irish cheese. (And Irish music, though not so much the Irish-American bar music that passes for Irish music in too much of the US.)

But I like them on other days of the year too.
