I am an uncle
Jan. 30th, 2015 04:20 pmActually, I've been one for many years now. I became an uncle by proxy some ten times over when I married B. (she comes from a large family), since increased by one or two more births (I forget just what happened when), then by several marriages among that generation (one more coming soon), and I am also several times a grand-uncle.
But nothing on my own side of the family until 9:14 last night, when my sister-in-law gave birth to a son dubbed Nathaniel Joseph (good name). According to his photos, he's small and rather pink; I'll learn more about his person and character later.
Now is the chance for my brother to apply all the superior (in his estimation) child-rearing techniques he used to pronounce on to our parents during his own childhood. The boy is in for an interesting life.
(The birth announcement e-mail contained a list of other notables born on January 29. Most of them I hadn't heard of; probably sports figures. Just for revenge, here are some January 29th births that I've heard of, that my brother probably hasn't:( Read more... )
