1. I voted this morning. Polling place was the nearest it's ever been, in the rec room of the apartment complex just around the corner. It was kind of quiet in there, and one of the polling workers was reading Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four.
2. I really should be doing other things, but I've half-inadvertently tracked down the source of a false quotation attributed to C.S. Lewis. It was one of those "source A attributes it to source B, which attributes it to source C, which attributes it to source D, but got it wrong" cases. Now to figure out if anybody might want to publish my results.
3. Went to the city recycling center to stomp on and deposit all the empty boxes in the back of my car that once contained my mother's recyclable financial papers. Lots of stomping. Discovered that the recycling guy missed a couple of boxes, so I'll have to go back.
4. Still haven't seen Tolkien's Beowulf translation. Have to do something about that.
