previous engagement

I'm to attend a committee meeting for the library, my sometime employer, this evening. This means I'll be removed from the varying temptations (depending on your tastes) of two simultaneous newsworthy competing events: the final game in the NL baseball playoff series (if it isn't rained out) and the final debate in the US presidential playoff series (if it isn't rained out). As the last time I watched the Giants in a postseason game, they lost, and the last time I watched Obama debate, he lost, this is probably for the best. I'll live.
