Here we differ. I discovered Steeleye Span at the age of 20,* was instantly smitten, and British folk and folk-rock have been my principal non-classical listening ever since. Child ballads naturally among them, though I am just as happy with other folk songs.
*This was exactly when others our age were discovering punk rock, a form of music I have absolutely no use for. Yet another chance to feel alienated from my peers.
