I only know about the Child ballads because of reading The Drifters at an impressionable age (15). And my impression was that they were unlikely to appeal to me because I didn't like sad, spooky, folkie things. I was an unreasonably cheerful, fairly shallow teenager. I would be more interested in them now, however, and yet I've never sought out performances of the ballads.

That's a delightful dedication.
