Someone on Facebook commented with an even more grandiose claim...""This slate is the most diverse to grace the Hugos that I've ever seen"
"...so I did a little more research. Just among fiction nominees, last year we had 8 women, and 3 nominees I would characterize as People of Color, or at least of Non-Western-European-Extraction (there's some overlap with the women). Year before that: 9 women, 3 PoC. 2011 and 2012? 10 women; 2 PoC. Want to go back to 1992? 11 women were nominated. You've come a long way, baby. That's not even getting into religion, although I'm pretty sure that in 1987, at least one Mormon and one Scientologist were nominated. And sexual orientation? Good luck on being certain of that.
