I know Gilbert's "R&G" because it's in the same anthology I have "Engaged" in. I once wrote a paper comparing Gilbert to Shakespeare ("Iolanthe" is just like "A Midsummer Night's Dream", it really is - it's got fairies and mixed-up lovers and a chorus of comic-relief boobies and Mendelssohnian music), and quoted from "R&G" extensively.
