The sensation of watching a movie that you'd found hilarious in 1973 but now discover is not very funny.

I think the term you're looking for is "growing up".

I recently rewatched some of my favorite Fellini films, seen first in the mid-70s at college, and they didn't hold up. Still good, but not as great as when I was younger. Just didn't strike the same chords. I don't particularly blame Fellini or me or anyone, but my life experiences (and cinematic tastes had changed. For better or worse, and I'd like to think for the better.
