I don't specifically remember a book review, but I have read/heard a number of film reviews from someone who couldn't possibly have actually seen the film, or seen it all the way through. I'm not talking about differences of opinion or interpretation, but errors in fact. In some cases, J and I, who see films very differently, have both seen the film and agree that the reviewer didn't.
There are writers who denounce copyeditors, the whole pack of them. While there are bad copyeditors (as there are bad reviewers), it looks to me as if some of the denouncers are the writers who most need copyediting.
