I suppose 1969 was in the cusp. Bonnie and Clyde (1967) is often pointed at as the turning point between Old Hollywood and New Hollywood, but it's really arbitrary. 1969 saw the release of Peckinpah's relatively gritty, deromanticized The Wild Bunch, but also the relatively glossy Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
