Oh, good. I'm not the only one who found Carter lifeless and boring. I gave him a good try many years ago, I really did, only to come to the conclusion that his music was merely an intellectual exercise with no heart, suitable only for academic analysis, not for listening to.

I can certainly appreciate music intellectually, but music is so much more than abstract thought.
