My introduction to him was a CD featuring him on piano with the SF Symphony, acquired, along with a collection of John Adams' shorter works and fanfares, my senior year of college at the suggestion of a friend who studied composition.
It was wonderful to read that he's been with his husband since the 1970s, yet still boils my blood that bigotry eclipsed so many centuries worth (as summed across families) of relationships.
